Life List

“… a life list isn’t so much a to-do list as a curated selection of possibilities, from which to pick and choose to help create my life.”

Inspired. This quote comes from Karen at Chookooloonks. When I spent the day with Karen at BlogHer’s Pathfinder Day in August 2011, she talked about the life list concept. It’s not about a race of “to-do” before you die (i.e. the bucket list), but about possibilities and accomplishments that just might come to fruition if you open yourself up and share your desires with the world. This is my life list, in no particular order.

1. Drive through all 50 states in America
2. Cruise the Mediterranean
3. Learn ballroom dancing
4. Get a paid travel writing gig (June 2012)
5. Earn a black belt in Tae Kwon Do
6. Run a Disney Half Marathon
7. Develop muscles that can be seen
8. See an active volcano
9. Learn to play bass guitar
10. Play bass guitar in a band, in public
11. Be *able* to live off the grid (even though I wouldn’t choose to)
12. Watch my kids raise their own kids
13. Visit Mount Rushmore
14. Ski in the Southern Hemisphere
15. Eat pizza in Italy
16. Learn to shoot a gun
17. See the Northern Lights
18. Visit a nude beach and feel totally comfortable with it
19. Ride a zip line in an exotic location
20. Visit an Egyptian pyramid
21. Be an extra in a movie or on TV
22. Visit the Hershey Spa and get some kind of chocolate spa treatment
23. Travel in an RV
24. Attend a red carpet event and mingle with celebrities
25. Vacation on an island where the only people around are my husband and the cooks/caretakers
26. Participate in a flash mob
27. Live in an apartment in New York City for 6 months or a year
28. Drive a car in England or Australia where they drive on the “wrong side” of the road
