Finding your blog tribe

As I change and refine my blogging goals, I’m on the lookout for blogs in my niche. I’ve found several personal development blogs, but they mostly focus on career, finance and relationships, whereas I’m focused more on parenting. I’m looking for a tribe that shares my goals and interests:

  • Moms that want to yell less and have more peace in their home
  • Moms who struggle to eat right and stay fit and want to set a good, healthy example for their kids
  • Anyone who wants to examine why we often have great intentions and motivation for new projects, yet we don’t act on them or we abandon them quickly
  • Anyone interested in learning why making permanent change is a struggle even when we really want to change
  • Bonus points if you like to scrapbook, travel, ski, play board games, or if you are a secular homeschooler or libertarian.

So, is there anyone like me out there blogging? Help a girl out, won’t you? Leave me a comment and a URL if you know a blog I might like. And if not, please share with me your favorite blogs that YOU read.

Me, me me!

Every day, I strive to parent without yelling. Some days it’s a struggle; some days it’s easy. Sometimes I manage it; sometimes I lose it.

I have been working on my fitness and health for pretty much the last 4 years, with great success since January 2010 (about 50 pounds lost and a 185 pound dead lift). Part of improving my health has involved identifying wrong ideas I had (have) about food and health and fitness and working consciously to change them. Another part is talking to my kids about what constitutes healthy eating and making good choices.

I’m a Recovering Perfectionist, which hits on your next two points a bit.

I get bonus points for being a secular homeschooler (of three kids). I’m an Objectivist, not a libertarian, so maybe I get half bonus points for that? :D

Ah, but I’m already following your blog, Jenn. Tell me now, who do YOU read? ;-) And yes, Objectivist = bonus points. I’m reading Atlas Shrugged right now.

Okay, how about Reepicheep’s Coracle (reepicheepscoracle.blogspot.com), the blog of my friend and business partner (we teach Positive Discipline classes)? She’s pretty awesome. :D

I did get an email notification, btw.

My Gentle Parenting Resources blog is brand new, so not a huge amount of posts yet, but I deal with parenting and marriage…gently, of course, lol. And on the sidebar is a list of awesome ‘gentle and positive’ parenting blogs and resources I’ve been compiling.

This is a blog that just gives me some quick inspiration in the morning and helps me get moving. They’re short, but well thought-out posts.

I don’t generally talk about parenting on my blog, but a few weeks ago I started my wellness Wednesday posts. These focus on wellness and behavior change. I will soon be heading towards discussing aspects of behavior change- you may want to check it out!

I’m a little late… but congrats on being selected for #commenthour (I might have posted before, but I don’t remember).

I ABSOLUTELY love your tag line… taking care of my big rocks first. Awesome! This past week was my second #commenthour. The first week I checked out all the links and it really inspired me to re-establish my personal blog. So, I have. I dusted it off, changed up the design, etc but it is lacking in recent posts.

With that said, I do have many of your same interests… although we are no longer homeschooling. And my blog might not focus on those topics so much at the moment… but will as time goes on. You can check me out at http://evansfamilylife.blogspot.com

I think you and I may have some things in common. I love your concept! I had an awakening one year ago about how I was living (or not living) my life. I was holding onto distraction and perfection more than I was to my family. I have been on a journey to live Hands Free…letting go to grasp what really matters. I write a lot about connecting with my children and my spouse. I would love for you to check my blog out! I will be reading some more of yours this evening. Good stuff!
